What can we do to tackle Air Pollution and cleanse lungs
- Do pranayama (yoga) early in the morning, avoid polluted area. Air in the early morning is less polluted than other time of the day. Sit in any comfortable posture like Sukhasan, Vajrasan and Padmasan with back and neck straight. Inhalation and exhalation should be through your nostrils only. Keep your eyes closed. Following two pranayama are very effective for lung cleansing:

- Wear a mask : Anti Pollution masks filter dust, gases, pollen and other organic vapors thus protects from various respiratory problems or breathing allergies.
- Add following foods in your diet :
- Olive oil : Vitamin E and fatty acids improves lung function and reduce inflammation. Use it on salads instead of cooking.
- Flaxseed : phytoestrogens and omega 3 fatty acids protects from asthma and allergic reactions.
- Avocado : Vitamin E help to counteract the effects of certain types of particulate pollution.
- Tomatoes : lycopene antioxidant in them protect from respiratory illnesses.
- Broccoli : Excrete higher levels of a carcinogen known as benzene and a lung irritant known as acrolein.
- Lemon : Vitamin C will help cleanse your body.
- Turmeric : is a well-known antioxidant and is said to help protect the lungs from the toxic effects of pollutants.
- Jaggery : Help in Cleansing.
